Lalki Babci | Grandma's dolls

It's the Polish Doll Day in Grey Owl's Calendar today. On this occasion I will show you two dolls of Polish production that I refreshed some time ago.

They were sent to me by a Lady who wanted renew the dolls for her grandmother. So, the important thing was not to change their apperearance to much and refresh their old clothes.

As you can see on the photo below, time gave them a toll.

Na pierwszy rzut poszła panna od Krawala. Po podgrzaniu suszarką bez problemu usunęłam fragment rączki z tułowia. W pierwszej kolejności skleiłam obie części klejem cyjanoakrylowym w żelu.

At first I took care of the lady made by Krawal. After I heated the doll with hair dryer a bit, I removed the piece of arm with no trouble. And I glued both parts using cyanoacrylate glue (the one in the form of a gel).

The glue worked very well but unfortunatelly old plastic was to fragile after all these years. When I tried to put the arm back it broke again. Not in the place I glued it, but right next to it.

So my second attempt was with the hot glue. I filled both fragments with it and put togheter. And this time operation was successful. ;)

Then I took care of hair. They were like felt, but I managed to save them more or less.

Krawalka dostała nowe rzęsy.

Krawal doll got new eyelashes.

I skompletowałam jej ubranko, po wypraniu go i drobnych poprawkach krawieckich.

And I completed her outfit after washing it and some minor tailoring corrections.

Then I fixed the doll from Spółdzielnia Pracy Miś (Cooperative Miś). Her arms nedded to be repaired and her hair style was in a very poor shape.

The doll used to have a bonnet, I was supposed to sew a new one for her. Because of that the Owner and I agreed, that I would make only partial reroot. Only the bangs.

At the end I will show you portrait of my own Krawal doll. She still sits naked as the fabric produced her, but I have an idea what outfit should I sew for her. ;)

Napraw ciąg dalszy | Repairs continued

Miś doll from Poland

Report from another renovation today. I'm not very familiar with these dolls but it seems to me that this girl was produced by Spółdzielnia Pracy MIŚ (Cooperative MIŚ - that means Teddy Bear) in Siedlce. She has no signature but I found that these dolls had characteristic head, like they had trepanation. She has one like this. I looked through the Internet and what I also found she was probably produced in the '70s or '80s. But if I am wrong please correct it. :)

Niestety czas nie był dla niej łaskawy.

Well, the time was not kind to her.

As you can see two photos above - her eyes were not closing. I managed to fix it after I removed top part of the head. Weight which is responsible for closing them was glued to the head.

I gave her the new elastic so her arms are fixed well now.

She had big stains of some cyanoacrylate glue like "Super Glue" on her face. I found a way to get rid of them. I managed to remove them using file with polisher for cleaning silver. It takes time but there is no sign of polishing on the plastic after using it. The problem was with the glue in the corner of the eye - I just couldn't maneuver with the polisher there. If anyone of you needs a polish like this - I have bought it here.

Photo with the stains below. And then her face with no stains afterwards.

Powiem Wam, że reroot gumowych łebków to pikuś. Ten dał mi nieco popalić. ;)

Re-rooting rubber heads is a piece of cake. This one was a real challange. ;)

It lasted and lasted. I spare you this part and show the final effect. Hairstyle looked like this at first:

Powoduje to lekkie nastroszenie...

Laleczka dostała też nową sukienkę.

Clipping helped a bit. Well, new hair are not as soft as the original. So she is a bit blowzy...

I sewed a new dress for the doll too.

Padało, i padało. A laleczka w międzyczasie wróciła do siebie do domu.

This was a short break in a few days rain. I jumped out for quick photos. But after that there was no chance for anything else. It rained and rained. In the meantime the doll came back home.

Opaska pomogła nieco opanować rozwichrzoną fryzurę.

Headband helped to take control over the disheveled hairstyle.

I na koniec zdjęcia "przed i po".

"Before and after" photos at the end.
