Shadow High Veronica Storm

Od jakiegoś czasu lalki z serii Rainbow High i Shadow High podbijają serca coraz większej liczby kolekcjonerów. Nic dziwnego. Są urocze, mają ciekawe stroje (często po dwa zestawy), cudowne włosy, a cenowo są wciąż konkurencyjne w porównaniu do Barbiowatych. Co prawda najnowsze serie nie są już tak atrakcyjne (brak lub ograniczona artykulacja, brak dodatkowych ubrań itd.), ale te starsze są naprawdę śliczne. 

Pierwszą RH, która do mnie trafiła była Skyler. Wtedy mój zachwyt był umiarkowany, głównie ze względu na bardzo błyszczącą twarz i niedziałający staw łokciowy (niestety, to nie jest tak, że u tych lalek nie zdarzają się buble...). To pierwsze zostało na szczęście zmienione w kolejnych seriach - twarze są matowe i lalki wychodzą na zdjęciach o niebo lepiej.

Od tamtej pory dyniogłówek przybyło - mamy ich już 17 sztuk. Głównie zbiera je moja Córa, ale cztery z nich kupiłam dla siebie. :) 

For some time now, dolls from the Rainbow High and Shadow High series have been stealing the hearts of an increasing number of collectors. Nothing unusual. They are charming, have interesting outfits (often two sets), wonderful hair, and their prices are still competitive compared to Barbies. It's true that the newest series aren't that attractive anymore (no or limited articulation, no additional clothes, etc.), but the older ones are really beautiful.

The first RH that came to me was Skyler. Back then, my admiration was moderate, mainly due to the very shiny face and the non-functioning elbow joint (well, it's not like these dolls don't have defects...). Fortunately, the first one was changed in next series - the faces are mat and the dolls look much better in the photos.

Since then, the number of pumpkinheads has increased - we already have 17 of them. They mainly belong to my Daughter, but I bought four of them for myself. :)

Jedną z nich jest Lily, która jeszcze nie doczekała się swojego postu. Drugą Vanessa, która pojawiła się jak na razie na jednej fotografii, trzecią cudowna piegowata Victoria, której jeszcze w ogóle nie pokazywałam, a czwartą - Veronica. I o niej dzisiaj jest post. Jest jedną z bliźniaczek Storm. Kupiłam ją z drugiej ręki, głównie w celach testowych. Oryginalnie panna ma gumę balonową, która zasłania jej spory kawałek twarzy. Chciałam zobaczyć, czy da się ją usunąć i naprawić ubytek w ustach. Na powyższym zdjęciu widać, jak wygląda po usunięciu balona. Do zaklejenia otworu użyłam masy dwuskładnikowej schnącej na powietrzu. Później wyszlifowałam nadmiar na tyle, na ile się dało. 

One of them is Lily, who hasn't had her post yet. The second is Vanessa, who has appeared in one photo so far, the third is the wonderful freckled Victoria, whom I haven't shown at all yet, and the fourth is Veronica. And today's post is about her. She is one of the Storm twins. I bought her second-hand, mainly for testing purposes. Originally, the doll has bubble gum that covers a large part of her face. I wanted to see if it could be removed and if the cavity in her mouth can be repaired. The photo above shows what it looks like after the balloon is removed. I used a two-component air-drying mass to seal the hole. Then I sanded off the excess as much as I could.

Jeśli chodzi o malowanie - nie mam umiejętności, które pozwoliłyby na odtworzenie oryginalnych barw. Jedyne co mogłam zrobić, to wymieszać odpowiedni odcień fioletu i pomalować usta jednolitym kolorem.

When it comes to painting, I don't have the skills to recreate the original colors. The only thing I could do was mix the appropriate shade of purple and paint her lips with a solid color.

Ale to nie koniec historii. Bliźniaczki Storm były wielkim marzeniem mojej Córy. Ich normalna cena jest akurat zdecydowanie niekonkurencyjna w porównaniu do innych lalek, ale przed świętami trafiły się w całkiem niezłej promocji i zamówiłam je dla Młodej. Początkowo z myślą, że zdublowana Veronica pójdzie kiedyś w świat. Jednak po tej drobnej operacji plastycznej tak mnie zauroczyła, że raczej jej to nie grozi. W dodatku, gdy ustawiłyśmy je we trzy, okazało się, że jako trojaczki wyglądają jeszcze lepiej. ;) Veronica II jak widzicie wciąż ma gumę balonową i na razie chyba tak zostanie.

But that's not the end of the story. The Storm twins were my Daughter's big dream. Their regular price is definitely uncompetitive compared to other dolls, but before Christmas they were on quite a good promotion and I ordered them for my Daughter. Initially, with the thought that the double Veronica would one day go away, into the world. However, after this minor plastic surgery, I'm so enchanted by her that I don't think she is in any danger. Moreover, when we put the three of them together, it turned out that they looked even better as triplets. ;) Veronica II, as you can see, still has bubble gum and will probably stay that way for now.

Veronica I została więc moją modelką na jednej z zimowych sesji z zeszłego tygodnia. Sukienka, w której wystąpiła, to przerobiony prototyp lawendowej kreacji, którą szyłam w dziesięciu egzemplarzach dla Izabeli, @bella_belladoll z okazji wydania jej książki "Doll Photography Book". Tamte były całe lawendowe, ale prototyp miał falbanki w dwóch odcieniach fioletu. Sukienka przeleżała w szufladzie ponad dwa i pół roku, a przypomniałam sobie o niej zastanawiając się nad tym, w co ubrać pannę Storm. Musiałam ją zwęzić, zmieniłam też długość i wyszła mi taka oto fioletowa beza. :)

So Veronica I became my model at one of last week's winter sessions. The dress she appeared in is a modified prototype of an lavender creation that I sewed in ten copies for Izabela, @bella_belladoll, on the occasion of the release of her "Doll Photography Book". Those were all lavender, but the prototype had ruffles in two shades of purple. The dress had been in the drawer for over two and a half years, and I remembered it while wondering what to dress Miss Storm with. I had to narrow it, I also changed the length and I ended up with this purple meringue. :)

Ogromnie się cieszę, że udało mi się wykorzystać tych kilka dni bajkowej zimy. Uwielbiam skrzący się śnieg. Veronica zaś doskonale wpasowała się w mroźną aurę. 

I'm very happy that I managed to take advantage of these few days of a fairy-tale winter. I love sparkling snow. Veronica fits perfectly into the frosty weather.

Zmieniłam jej oryginalną fryzurę i powiem Wam, że ta ilość włosów z jednej strony zachwyca, a z drugiej nieco utrudnia życie - są tak ciężkie, że przewracają lalkę. xD

I changed her original hairstyle and I can tell you that this amount of hair is delightful on the one hand, but on the other it makes life a bit difficult - it's so heavy that it knocks the doll over. xD

Veronica jest prześliczna. Ogromnie podoba mi się kolorystyka całej lalki, makijaż oczu i kolor włosów. Tu akurat nie widać, ale ma także morskie pasemka, które pięknie kontrastują z ciemnym fioletem.

Veronica is beautiful. I really like the colors of the entire doll, the eye makeup and the hair color. You can't see it here, but she also has teal highlights that contrast beautifully with the dark purple.

Oczywiście muszę zrobić kiedyś sesję całej trójki. Mam nadzieję, że nastąpi to wcześniej, niż za rok. ;)

Dziś Blue Monday, ale mam nadzieję, że niebieski jest dzisiaj u Was tylko śnieg.

Ski Fun Blizzard (Snowdance) 1991

Cały tydzień był cudowny - śnieg, mróz i słońce. I choć złożyło się tak, że akurat nie miałam czasu ani możliwości chodzenia na spacery, to udało mi się zrobić kilka szybkich sesji. Między innymi z udziałem Vanessy (Mattel, The Little Mermaid) i Blizzarda. 

The whole week was wonderful - snow, frost and sun. And even though I didn't have time or opportunity to go for walks, I managed to do a few quick sessions. With the participation of Vanessa (Mattel, The Little Mermaid) and Blizzard, among others.

Blizzard, zwany również Snowdance, to koń z serii Ski Fun, która ukazała się  1991 roku. Do mnie trafił w październiku zeszłego roku, w pudle różności. Zapomniałam zrobić zdjęcie przed odświeżeniem go, mogę Wam tylko napisać, że nie było źle. Większość plam zeszła przy szorowaniu, a grzywa i ogon dały się ładnie rozczesać. Grzywa jest co prawda o wiele krótsza, niż powinna być, a ogon przerzedzony - ale chwilowo nie mam jak tego naprawić. Planuję wymienić mu włosy, ale po pierwsze muszę znaleźć na to czas, a po drugie przetestować to najpierw na jakimś innym koniu. Nigdy końskiego rerootu jeszcze nie robiłam, a nie chciałabym go uszkodzić, bo wyjątkowo mi się podoba. 

Blizzard, also called Snowdance, is a horse from the Ski Fun series, which was released in 1991. He came to me in October last year, in a box of miscellaneous items. I forgot to take a photo before refreshing him, I can only tell you that it wasn't bad. Most of the stains came off with scrubbing, and the mane and tail could be combed out nicely. The mane is much shorter than it should be and the tail is thinned - but at the moment I have no way to fix it. I plan to replace his hair, but firstly I need to find time for it, and secondly, I need to test it on another horse first. I've never rerooted a horse before, and I don't want to damage him because I really like him.

Wciąż nie zrobiłam też siodeł i ogłowi, o których myślę od dwóch, a może i trzech lat... Musiałam więc skompletować koński rząd z tego, co mam. Ogłowie dostał od Pacyfiki, siodło od koni Sindy Pedigree, a czaprak na szybko wycięłam z szarej wełny. 

I still haven't made saddles and bridles, which I've been thinking about for two, or maybe even three years... So I had to make a horse harness from what I have. He got the bridle from Pacifica, the saddle from Sindy Pedigree horses, and I quickly cut out a saddle pad from gray wool.

Powiem szczerze, że wolę go z krótką grzywą. W oryginale sięga ona do ziemi i zasłania pół konia, a jeśli chodzi o sylwetkę - jest wyjątkowo udany. Za mały oczywiście, jak wszystkie konie od Mattela, ale co poradzić... Myślę, że jeśli uda mi się wymienić włosy (wg mnie o wiele bardziej pasowałyby mu śnieżnobiałe grzywa i ogon), to grzywę zrobię taką samą albo niewiele dłuższą.

To be honest, I prefer him with a short mane. In the original, it reaches to the ground and covers half of the horse, and when it comes to the silhouette - it is exceptionally good. Too small, of course, like all horses from Mattel, but what can you do... I think that if I manage to replace the hair (in my opinion, a snow-white mane and tail would suit him much better), I will make the mane the same or a little longer.

Cieszę się, że udało mi się wykorzystać tą cudną pogodę i cyknąć choć kilka ujęć. Patrząc na ostatnie zdjęcie myślę, że koniecznie muszę powtórzyć sesję z tą parą - Vanessie pasowałby polski strój szlachecki i sokół na ramieniu. Co Wy na to? ;)

I'm glad I managed to take advantage of this wonderful weather and take at least a few shots. Looking at the last photo, I think I must repeat the session with this duo - Vanessa would look wonderful in a Polish noble costume and a falcon on her shoulder. What do you say? ;)

DOTW, The Princess Collection, Princess of the Incas

Pierwszą lalką, która przyjechała do mnie w tym roku, jest moje wielkie lalkowe marzenie - Princess of the Incas. Należy do kolekcji Dolls of The World, na rynek trafiła w 2001 roku. Ma mold Goddess - jest to jedno z najpiękniejszych jego wydań. 

Jest to jedna z lalek, na które polowałam bardzo długo. Trzy, a może i cztery lata. Niezbyt często pojawia się u nas, raczej trzeba szukać na zagranicznych portalach. Bardzo ciężko znaleźć ją bez pudełka - co więcej, ze względu na specyficzną fryzurę takie egzemplarze wyglądały zwykle kiepściutko na zdjęciach, a ich cena wcale nie była na tyle zachęcająca, aby brać pod uwagę np. zakupienie lalki i zrobienie rerootu. Czekałam więc, szukałam, wzdychałam. I w końcu uśmiechnęło się do mnie szczęście - jedna z kolekcjonerek z polskiej grupy lalkowej postanowiła uszczuplić kolekcję. :)

I jak widzicie moja wymarzona panna wcisnęła się w kolejkę do prezentacji na blogu, choć na swoje wpisy czeka jeszcze kilka zakupów z zeszłego roku... ;)

The first doll that came to me this year is my great doll dream - Princess of the Incas. She is part of the Dolls of The World collection, she was released in 2001. She has the Goddess head mold - it is one of its most beautiful releases.

This is one of the dolls I have been hunting for for a very long time. Three, maybe four years. It doesn't appear very often here, you have to look for it on foreign websites. It is very difficult to find it without a box - what's more, due to the specific hairstyle, such dolls usually looked bad in photos, and the price was not encouraging enough to consider, for example, buying a doll and rerooting her. So I waited, searched, sighed. And finally, luck smiled on me - one of the collectors from the Polish doll group decided to reduce the collection. :)

And as you can see, my dream girl squeezed in the queue to be presented on the blog, although there are still a few purchases from last year waiting for their entries... ;)

Choć lalki wyskakują u mnie z pudełek natychmiast po przybyciu, to w tym przypadku muszę Wam się przyznać, że się zawahałam (dlatego wolę te starsze lalki kupować już wypakowane). Ręka mi drgnęła, ponieważ Inkaska księżniczka prezentuje się w pudle naprawdę pięknie. Ale ostatecznie ją oczywiście wyjęłam. ;)

W ramach ciekawostki pokażę Wam, jak pakowane były lalki kolekcjonerskie 20 lat temu. Do pudełka umocowana była miękkimi drucikami, które bez problemu można odkręcić od tyłu kartonu. Włosy utrzymywał przyszyty kawałek przezroczystego plastiku, ale przyszyty tak, aby po pociągnięciu nitki szew puścił. Do tego w kartonie oprócz certyfikatu były też ulotka, ankieta (chyba wtedy jeszcze się przejmowali zdaniem klientów?), a także informacja o gwarancji.

Although my dolls jump out of their boxes immediately after they arrive, in this case I must admit that I hesitated (that's why I prefer to buy these older dolls already unpacked). My hand twitched because the Inca princess looks really beautiful in the box. But in the end, of course, I took her out. ;)

As a curiosity, I will show you how collectible dolls were packed 20 years ago. She was attached to the box with soft wires that could be easily unscrewed from the back of the box. The hair was held in place by a sewn-in piece of clear plastic, but sewn in such a way that when the thread was pulled, the seam would release. In addition to the certificate, the box also contained a leaflet, a questionnaire (I guess they still cared about customers' opinions back then?), and information about the warranty.

Później już poszło z górki. Przerzuciłam łepek na ciało mtm (pasuje niemal idealnie DJY08 z drugiego wypustu, opalona wersja). I tu jeszcze podrzucę Wam zdjęcie, jak były wykończone stroje lalek kolekcjonerskich te dwie dekady temu. Wszystko obrębione, metalowe zatrzaski, ekstra materiały... Ech...

It all went easier from there. I switched the head on the mtm body (DJY08 from the second release, tanned version, fits almost perfectly). And here I will give you a photo of how the outfits of collector dolls were finished two decades ago. Everything is hemmed, metal snaps, quality fabrics... Eh...

Strój zachwycił mnie na tyle, że panna będzie w nim stała na półce. Granatowa tafta i rewelacyjny wzór dołu sukni współgrają ze sobą idealnie. "Złote" dodatki dopełniają całości. Postanowiłam zrobić coś więcej, niż szybkie pamiątkowe zdjęcie w oryginalnej stylizacji. Ponieważ na zewnątrz warunki są delikatnie rzecz ujmując nieodpowiednie - zorganizowałam dżunglę w domu. ;) 

I tak, tak. Pół godziny nosiłam rośliny z parapetów, układałam, narobiłam bałaganu, bo wiadomo, że z doniczek się wysypało... Musiałam też zetrzeć kurz z liści fikusów, bo już się nazbierał odkąd wróciły do domu na jesieni, a na zdjęciach wychodził nieciekawie. xD Po czym cyknęłam pięć zdjęć i musiałam wszystko posprzątać. Też tak macie?

I was so impressed with the outfit that the lady would be standing on a shelf wearing it. The navy blue taffeta and the amazing pattern of the bottom of the dress match each other perfectly. "Golden" accessories complete the whole. I decided to do something more than a quick souvenir photo in an original styling. Since the conditions outside are, to put it mildly, inappropriate, I organized a jungle at home. ;)

And yes, yes. I carried the plants from the windowsills for half an hour, arranged them, made a mess because all spilled something out of the pots... I also had to wipe the dust off the ficus leaves, because they had already accumulated dust since they came back home in the fall, and it didn't look good in the photos. xD Then I took five photos and had to clean everything up. Do you have that too?

Akurat zakwitły azalie - razem z kameliami moje ukochane, zimowe kwiaty. Myślę, że udało się zrobić całkiem wdzięczne tło dla Inkaskiej piękności. Wykorzystałam też moje próbne kamyki do Domu Zielarki - dobrze odegrały rolę fragmentu pradawnej budowli ukrytego w zakamarkach dżungli. ;)

Azaleas have just bloomed - along with camellias, my beloved winter flowers. I think we managed to create quite a nice background for the Inca beauty. I also used my sample stones for the Herbalist's Cottage - they played the role of a fragment of an ancient building hidden in the nooks of the jungle well. ;)

Kolejnym etapem było zdjęcie korony. Po odcięciu żyłek, które trzymały ją na miejscu okazało się, że włosy nieco się odkształciły. Normalnie przelałabym fryzurę wrzątkiem, ale przy tych delikatnych, skręconych pasemkach (nie wiem w sumie jak to nazwać) nie było takiej możliwości. W dodatku okazało się, że bardzo wiele pasm przy przedziałku jest u nasady poplątanych - trzeba było je oddzielić i ułożyć odpowiednio uważając, aby nie zepsuć żadnego z nich. Nie powiem, chwilę to zajęło...

The next step was to remove the crown. After cutting off the lines that held it in place, it turned out that the hair was slightly deformed. Normally, I would pour boiling water over it, but with these delicate, twisted strands (I don't really know what to call it), this wasn't possible. In addition, it turned out that many strands at the parting were tangled at the roots - they had to be separated and arranged properly, being careful not to damage any of them. Well, it took a while...

Następnego dnia zaczęło się robić chłodniej i spadł śnieg. Pomimo niesprzyjającej aury wyszłam zrobić kilka zdjęć.

The next day it started to get colder and snow fell. Despite the unfavorable weather, I went out to take a few photos.

Postanowiłam dać jej na imię Serena. Mam już pomysł na strój dla niej. Potrzebuję tylko wiosny... ;)

Na razie ubrałam ją w jeansy, beżowy sweter, który uszyłam z cienkiej dzianiny oraz jedną z wydzierganych przeze mnie szydełkowych chust. Spięta w pasie paskiem wygląda jak ciepła kamizelka.

I decided to name her Serena. I already have an idea for an outfit for her. I just need spring... ;)

For now, I've dressed her in some jeans, a beige sweater that I made from a thin knit fabric, and one of the crocheted shawls I made. Fastened at the waist with a belt, it looks like a warm vest.

Zachwycam się tą lalką. I niesamowicie się cieszę, że do mnie trafiła. 

I'm delighted with this doll. And I'm incredibly happy that I got her.

W poniedziałek wyszło obłędne słońce i jeszcze dopadało śniegu. Nie mogłam wyjść niestety na zdjęcia, ale na całe szczęście wczoraj wyskoczyłam na moment i udało mi się wykorzystać tą chwilową poprawę aury. Co prawda temperatura spadła na chwilę do -20°C (co daje nam 30 stopni różnicy w porównaniu z tym, co było ledwie tydzień temu - no szaleństwo, po prostu szaleństwo z tą pogodą...), ale ten biały puch i słońce sprawiły, że świat stał się piękny.

On Monday, the sun came out and it was still snowing. Unfortunately, I couldn't go out for photos, but luckily I went out for a moment yesterday and managed to take advantage of this temporary improvement in the weather. It's true that the temperature dropped to -20°C (-4°F) for a while (which gives us a 30°C/54°F difference compared to just a week ago - crazy, just crazy with this weather...), but the white snow and the sun made it that the world has become beautiful.
